St.
Andrews, NB, a pleasant and mildly upper-crusty coastal resort town
just across the Passamaquoddy river from Maine, was our first stop. An
old fort sits above this weird red sandstone point. |
|
The next day we drove across the hideous new Confederation
Bridge to Prince Edward Island, and camped at Rustico
Island in Prince Edward Island National Park. The campground was nearly
full, but the sites are huge, and we felt like we were all alone with the
mosquitoes. |
|
Sand
Stadium at Rustico Island. This was supposed to be Ebbets Field, but
it metamorphosed into something like Lobster Park. Not a soul walked by
the whole time we were on the beach. And people are worried that the new
bridge to PEI will bring too many tourists! |
|
Chris almost got eaten at Pettipas
Market in Nova Scotia, just across the Strait of Canso from Cape Breton
Island, where we had wonderful seafood chowder. |

Typical view from scenic overlook in Cape
Breton Highlands National Park, on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. |

Ingonish
Beach in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. A few minutes later,
those sneakers (and mine) were nearly washed away by the incoming tide
as we waded in the Atlantic. |
