Welcome to the AMC Junkyard list! Most of these boneyards were recommended from members of the AMC List (the ones with better descriptions than just "parting out AMCs" are from AMC List members). I've only visited a few of them, so I can't personally vouch for most of the information on this list. Anything that starts with Editor's note is a comment made by the list's author, Chris Weigant.

Chris KuzmaSome Javelins and AMXes and parts to sell. Here is a HUGE list of Javelin/AMX parts he has for sale. (list posted 11/96) Or, you can e-mail Chris Kuzma and talk to him directly.

Homer F. BrowningUsed AMC parts -- used cars
Millers Falls Road [Rt. 63, I think]
Northfield, MA 01360
(413) 498-2073
This yard has nuthin' but AMCs and a barn crammed with parts! Homer has lived in Northfield all his life ['cept when he was in the army] and is a way-cool old coot.
[Editor's note - 11/96] - called him up and he says he doesn't have much for older models (60's or earlier) - most of his parts are for later models "from the last 20 years or so."
Winnakor's Auto SalvageDon't know how many AMCs they've got, but they advertise "haven't crushed cars in 40 years" which is a good sign!

Says "Parting out all years." Nash is just the name of the place, not what he sells (a Nash only yard? Boy, talk about specialization!)
"U" Pull It Of VinelandHours: (Eastern Time) 7 days aweek, opens at 9 am, not sure of closing times.
1255 West Landis Avenue
Vineland, NJ

Note: Get there early - parking is limited.
Presently has Gremlins, AMX, Concords, etc., being dismantled. Prices are right because you have to pull your own parts. I recently obtained all side glass, door guts and window cranks for AMX/Javelin. Yard is located on Southern New Jersey.

70 New Rd.
Tabernacle, NJ
(609) 268-0365
Lots of older domestic & imported cars from '40s, '50s, and '60s. Nash, Hudson, Rambler, Metropolitan, Corvair, Studebaker, Fiat, Borgward, and more. Have even spotted a Goliath Tiger and a Skoda Felicia convertible here! This is a "you-pull-it" type yard, but they will help with larger parts.
Craig'sAnother good southern NJ boneyard. No phone number, it's run by an older retired gentleman who is there most of the time. It's adjacent to Craig's Fuel Service in Berlin, on New Freedom Road. (There is no relation that I am aware of between the junkyard and the fuel oil company.)
Berlin, NJ
Craig's has quite a few '50s, '60s, and '70s AMCs. (I purchased an entire '64 Ambassador from him a few years back.) Ramblers, Hornets, Gremlins, Matadors, Pacers, Ambassadors. This is also a "you pull it" operation. Pricing tends to be lower than Friendship, and the owner will usually haggle.

Hazleton, PA
(717) 459-9901
Very large junkyard which has all the cars neatly sectioned off by make, and there is a fairly sizeable AMC section. Last time I was there (last year) they were mostly later AMCs (Concord, Spirit, Eagle) and Renaults. (There are a lot of 4WD AMCs on the road in this area, I even saw several of the rare Gremlin-bodied 4WD Eagle Kammbacks.)
Admission is $1.00 per person. They have a standard price sheet for most items, and all parts are sold AS IS with no returns accepted. Their flyer boasts "over 9000 vehicles!"
Lucke'sHaven't been there in a few years , so I don't recall the AMC population, but there's stuff from pre-WWII there with glass and sheet metal stored in barns. Frank Nobles, manager, has the entire inventory in his head.

Just south of Culpepper on Rte. 29 - about 7 miles south of intersection of Rte. 3 and Rte. 29 in Culpepper.
Special Mention!! All the photos on this web page come from this junkyard!
This yard does not specialize in AMC/Ramblers but does have a fair number of them including a number of Americans, a '67 Ambasador Conv., a '70 Rebel Machine and a few Pacers. This yard is 100+ acres of cars. The prices are reasonable and there is a locator map to assist in finding the cars. The cars are unsorted but over time the various makes come to rest near one another. He also has engines in buses as well. This is the first and so far the only place I have ever gone and found a 390 engine available for sale.
I sorta counted the # of AMC's listed on Leon's special board : 100+- Americans, 75+ - Ramblers, 8+- Pacers, 30+- Hornets, 6 Javelins, 15 Gremlins, 5+ Matadors, ? Spirits ( one with GT-like spoilers and special wheel-well mouldings, black ), and I didn't really count the Jeeps and Eagles. He also had out front a '65? 770 American 2-dr HT, red and partial restoration ( orig. interior, but needs redone, paint redone ) for $850. It was driven to the yard, and is the salvage yard owner's brother's car. Body looked real good.

For the phone number - he says "could be 540 area code, not sure", but it probably is, since the one above has the same area code.
He has 2 Pacers ( one X ) and 3 Eagles ( '83,??), and a really nice '63 Chevy II on a 4-wheel drive platform. The Chevy body looked really straight, and when I looked under the hood, saw a funny-looking 6-cylinder valve cover. After gettting closer to read it, it said "Jeep 'Tornado' 290" on the valve cover. Anybody for a Jeep-powered Chevy? I got a few items off one of the Eagles, but then I sliced my thumb open thru the nail with a knife trying to pry the Pacer X emblems off the car (%#@!)

Has a 1969 American 2 Dr. and also now has a very nice 1968 Ambassador (both with nice Rust Free Bodies For Sale). Owner said he had (his words not mine) come across a 'Brand New AMC 304', that had supposedly never been cranked up. He didn't have it at this location for me to inspect, but he said he would be willing to sell it for $800. I was not in the market, but I told him I would put it on this list for anyone that might be. The owner's name is Pat Williamson.

Doug writes: First of all let me say I am primarily a "mail order" operation, i.e. folks call and I ship parts to them. This doesn't mean people can't stop by, it's just not as efficient for me.
We specialize in Rambler and AMC parts. I currently have 122 parts cars in stock (62 American to 83 Eagle). About half the cars are 68-74 AMX & Javelin. About 25% of our business is in used parts, and we are buying Ramblers & AMC's on a regular basis to save them from the crusher. Any questions, please give me a call.
Also, if you tell Doug your snail mail address, he'll send you a parts car list.

Junkyard owned by a former AMC dealer. Boy, has he got a stash! The man is retired and he isn't out to make a killing selling his parts. I asked his permission to briefly inventory the stuff and told him of my involvement with other AMCers. Much of it is stuff he bought up from train wrecks. He has some very interesting stories behind the aquisition of his stock. Here's a full list of stuff that he's got (extensive!). (list posted early 1996)

Parts for all models 63-85 - very good prices. Gary and his family have only bought AMC cars and just about kept every one that they ever have. That why they have almost 30 years of cars on his dad's farm. Gary must be called to visit the site with 30 or more cars. The site is in Omaha NE. He also keeps parts stored in a garage. People can call Gary after 6pm CST any weekday night, any time weekends or E-mail Dwayne Belongia for more information.

If you need it, and you're close, you might find something at Sisk Auto. Their total AMC inventory is limited to a burgundy 1978 Concord, an early-80's Eagle 2-dr sedan, and a grey/blue 1981 Eagle hatchback, plus a handful of Renaults. While it's got a small inventory, and is EXTREMELY disorganized (to get in you have to walk around a huge pile of scrap metal in which I saw, among other things, half a snowmobile and a washing machine) but the advantage is that he's in this business mainly for scrap metal-anything you want is FREE, unless maybe it's particularly large, also, scrap metal is an effective bargaining tool. If you need something he has, it can't be beat.

Call first, because they may be out - sounds like a Mom-n-Pop organization
Totally disorganized. If you ask if they have a particular car or part, odds are they won't know. They claim to have over 5,000 cars and trucks, and they're spread out over quite a few acres, some of it wooded so you can often see only 50-100 cars at once. The lot is not sorted by make, but has areas that seemed to have been filled in different years, so some areas have lots of pre-60 cars, other areas more early 70s and so on. Lots of AMCs. I saw quite a few early-mid 70s AMCs including no shortage of Matadors, Ambassadors, Gremlins, Hornets, etc, but only a few Javelins and those I saw were fairly stripped. Some later AMCs (Spirits, Eagles, etc) but they weren't as numerous as the 70s models from what I saw. I wasn't looking for Ramblers, but seemed to run into an awful lot of them. There's many acres of cars I haven't been through but saw some AMC content from a distance.

They have "a ton of AMC's. I counted 103 AMC cars, but I think that's probably an underestimate. I saw about 10 Gremlins. Assorted shapes and sizes. One had a 304 in it. Lots of Hornets and Pacers. Especially Pacer Wagons. There seemed to be a lack of Ambassadors, but several Matadors, mostly in wagon guise. I saw four Javelins, two small bodies, two large bodies, but they had been pretty much stripped. One of them had the funky striped interior.. (Peirre?) There were also some older AMCs. A couple early 60's Americans and Classics, mostly intact except for the interiors. I even saw a couple late 50's Ramblers, but they were pretty thrashed. There was a very nice (around 1960) Rambler wagon in Blue/Green that had very good metal. Also lots of Sprirts/Concords/Eagles as well. I even saw one Kammback that was in pretty good shape, at least from the angle I was seeing it. One of the major pieces was a "bathtub" Nash Ambassador. The interior was toast, but the dash was pretty nice, and there wasn t a dent on the entire car. The flipup taillights were long gone though. The yard also had a multitude of Jeeps, and Renaults, although I didn't count or wander around those areas. I don't know if they ship parts or even pull parts for distant customers. Its not an AMC only yard, but it seems to specialize in late 60's, 70's and early 80's cars."
[Editor's note - 11/96] Got a note from a guy who works there. Seems he's been getting some interesting calls from around the country! They've set up their own web page with their address, etc. - maybe eventually it'll have a full inventory, but not yet. Click Missoula Auto Salvage to see it (currently it says "American Motor Car" for AMC, but maybe they'll fix that soon) :-).

They had more than 50 AMC wrecks, including a 64 Typhoon, which had been picked but was fairly complete. There were enough 63-64 Classics and Ambassadors there to make it whole, that was for sure. I got the back window for my 64 American hardtop there and picked up a good set of Pacer turbo style wheels, hubs and nuts for $100.
Maricopa is less than 45 minutes southwest of Phoenix. Give them a call, I saw some good 50s stuff there as well in addition to late AMC stuff like Concords and Pacers.

This yard is on the outskirts of Sacramento.
Comments: I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about J&W. Prices seem to change between the telephone and the desk, if you catch my drift! There also seems to be a bit of an attitude about. Having said that, here goes...
Take I-80 toward Auburn (from Sacto) to Antelope Road in Roseville, turn north through Roseville to north of town. At the point where the road goes from 4 lane to 2 lane, turn right and go, oh, a mile or so. J & W is on the right; it is real easy to spot.
[Editor's note - 7/96] - I've been to these guys. They are "we pull it - you don't touch it" and are very adamant about this - they wouldn't even let me pull off a front sun shade! I also had a problem with attitude, but they do have some nice cars. They also tend to be expensive.
[Editor's note - 11/96] Got a note from a guy who says: I was just out at J & W Auto Wreckers today. I have shopped there several times and have been very satisfied. They had a counterman who was a little stuffy but he is now gone. I understand that his "attitude" got him shipped out. I also spoke with one of the owners about not having customers out in the yard. He advised me that their insurance prohibited this. We spoke at length about the subject and I think he was sincere with the insurance comment and also the safety concern. Anyway, I was taken on a tour of the yard and saw about 15 Renaults and probably a stock of 50 AMC vehicles. Lots of good sheet metal and parts. They have been fair with me on my purchases. What they sell is good stuff. Why don't you try them again? Ask for Mark Duncan - Tell him you're from the Internet.
[Editor's note - 4/99] David Drewry from J&W replies: Yes we do pull the parts. However the customers are allowed in the yard with us. As far as the prices changing....We try very hard not to do this, but I am sure that it has happened on occasion. (unintentionally).
Gilly's Auto WreckersBest web site I've ever seen for a junkyard! I don't even have to describe the yard, as you can do it better from his web site. Definitely worth a look! Here is a list of links to various parts of his site:

Pearson's Auto DismantlingHours: Open Fridays and Saturdays ONLY.
On Highway 49, south of Mariposa
Mariposa, CA
(209) 742-7442
Specializes in older cars, lots of AMC's, especially Ramblers. A little pricey, but a good selection.
Other comment: They aren't always willing to sell individual parts. For instance, if you want a piece of door or fender trim, he wants you to buy the entire door or fender and won't sell just the trim piece.
Three Boys Auto WreckingHours: 8:00-5:00 M-F, closed weekends
19480 Hwy. 99
Madera, CA 93637
(209) 674-7374
Parting out AMCs. Although the address says "Hwy. 99" it's actually between the "Avenue 20" and "Avenue 18 1/2" exits off of 99. Get off at either exit, get to the frontage road (Golden State) to the west of 99 and you can't miss them. Closer to Avenue 20 than Avenue 18 1/2.
[Editor's note - 1/97] - Didn't get to go in this one as it is closed on the weekends, but saw several interesting things from the fence (it's right next door to the one listed below). Looked like a few Javelins, but wasn't close enough to see anything in detail.
[Editor's note - 4/97] - These guys are comedians. No, really! I walked in and asked whether they had any AMCs and the one guy turned to the other with a big grin, looking just like John Belushi with raised eyebrow and all, and said to his friend "AMC? Salute to their memory!" They both saluted smartly, then admitted they didn't have much. They have one or two Javelins left, but that's it. They asked what kind of car I was looking for, a Hornet, or an Eagle, or what, and when I replied "Rambler" I got another salute for my efforts. Oh, well, didn't find any parts, but they were the funniest junkyard folks I've run into yet!
Pick-A-Part (Pick-Your-Part??)Hours: open 7 days a week
Madera, CA
Like others in the franchise - cars turn over very quickly here. See directions for Three Boys listed above - these two yards are RIGHT next to each other.
[Editor's note - 11/96] - They had an AMC section waa-aa-aa-aay in the back. Mostly 70s and 80s cars, although there was a 61 Classic and a 69 Ambassador there. But cars are moved in and out all the time, so give them a try. Lots of air conditioning parts. Costs one dollar to go in.
Romo's Auto WreckingHours: 8:00-5:00 Tues-Sat, 9:00-4:00 Sunday, closed Monday
4625 North Golden State Blvd.
Fresno, CA 93700
(209) 275-4823
Directions: get off Hwy. 99 on either Shaw Ave or Ashlan Ave. Turn east and then turn onto Golden State. It's right on Golden State between Shaw and Ashlan - you can't miss it.
Specializes in older cars, especially the "orphans" like Ramblers. Lots of Ramblers (20 or more) from 50's through late 60's. Good prices, friendly guys. Open weekends, but closed Mondays. On Golden State, just south of Shaw.
[Editor's note - 1/97] - More Ramblers than you can shake a stick at. Many older (50s, early 60s) models as well. Very few Americans, though - mostly Classics and Ambassadors, new and old. Many station wagons, too, even older ones. Even saw a Nash and a Hudson sitting next to each other. Very few later model AMCs. Not much at all past about 72 (not true - see new info below). Very nice Hornet hatchback, though. Many Rebels from the mid-to-late 60s. No convertables at all (that I saw).
Family-run yard, very friendly and helpful. Looked like crushing cars is a rare event here. Because of this, most of the cars have been sitting there a while and some were pretty picked over. Not the place to go looking for trim or interior parts. However, whenever they do crush cars, they strip most serviceable parts out and throw them in the back of a similar model. Look inside and in the trunks for gold mines of mechanical parts. I found a 2V manifold I had been searching for just lying in a trunk (how's that for easy removal?). Many fuel pumps with glass bowls intact for older models.
The guy there said there had been a lot of Rambler folks in to see him in the past six months. Hmmmm.... wonder why that could be? :-)
[Editor's note - 4/97] - This yard just gets better every time I go back. Found the crossmember and bellhousing I needed (the bellhousing was, once again, just lying in a front seat ready for me to pick up and walk out with, although the crossmember had to be removed). I also explored the yard more. As you walk in, if you turn to the right, you can find later AMCs - Pacers, Gremlins, Hornets, etc., mixed in with other marques. The older Ramblers, etc., are to the left and to the back, mixed in. Keep looking, they're spread out all over the place.
Westside Self-Service Auto DismantlingHours: 8:00-5:00 M-F, Sunday 8:00-4:00, closed Saturday
2640 Whites Bridge Road
Fresno, CA
(209) 237-5591
Has an AMC section, with a few Ramblers, $1.00 entrance fee.
Pick-A-Part Auto WreckingHours: 7:30-5:30 seven days a week
2274 East Muscat
Fresno, CA
(209) 268-0216
This chain has yards in several major California cities. I have seen the most AMC cars in the yards in Fresno and in Sun Valley, CA (San Fernando Valley). $1.00 entrance fee, cars turn over fairly rapidly. In southern Fresno, just off of Hwy 99. To get to East Muscat, take the Central exit off of 99 and head east. BEFORE you get to Golden State, take a left turn (only one to choose from). This road dead-ends in a block - turn left. Follow this road to its end almost, and the yard is on your left.
[Editor's note - 1/97] - Lots of AMCs, although they do tend to mix them a bit with Mr. Iaccoca's products (grrrr!). Mostly later model AMCs (70's, 80's), but they turn over fast so you may get lucky. If you need air conditioning for any AMC, this is the place to go. The Central Valley gets HOT in the summer, and 80 percent or more of the cars had complete A/C systems still in them.
Turner's Auto WreckingHours: 8:00-5:30 Tues-Sat, closed Sun, Mon
South Willow Avenue & Golden State Road
Fresno, CA 93725
(209) 237-0918
These guys have some AMC's, but their prices are high and they have a bad attitude. They don't like customers to go in back to see what they have, so I'm not sure about the selection.
[Editor's note - 1/97] - Call them up and see if they have your part before actually going out there. They didn't take the time to search for mine, even though I called them three times. It's rumored they have a computer inventory, but they apparantly didn't want my money...
Economy Auto WreckingHours: 8:30-5:00 M-F, 8:30-3:00 weekends
977 West Iona Avenue
Lemoore, CA
(209) 924-1285
Directions: from the north or south, take CA route 41. Get off on CA 198, heading east. From the east or west, take CA 198. Exit 198 at the "Downtown Lemoore" exit. GO THE OTHER WAY - head south of 198 (away from downtown Lemoore). Iona Avenue crosses this road within a couple blocks (quarter mile at most) - turn right onto it. Economy is on your left maybe a mile down the road (maybe only half mile).
Some AMC cars, about a half-dozen Ramblers, along with some other AMC products. Open Sat all day, Sunday 'till about noon.
[Editor's note - 4/97] See new directions above. When you get in the yard, go all the way to the back fence. Towards the left are the Ramblers and AMCs. Maybe two or three dozen at the most. Some very old Ramblers including a 59 Super station wagon (door code 5918) and a Nash Airflyte Custom. A few Javelins, but looked pretty picked over. Also a few 70s AMCs as well - Hornet, Concord, Gremlin, Spirit, and a Pacer wagon.

This is another chain which has several locations. I have found the best selection of AMC's in the Sun Valley yard. Cars tend to stick around here longer than most self-service yards, but they do get crushed eventually.

near Cincinnati, OH

The last time I was out there he had a bunch of AMCs in the yard. Closed on Monday.
[Editor's note - 3/97] I saw a list for Mad Man's on your page. I was up there about a year ago and they only had a few AMC's at the time. They had crushed all of thier inventory excpet a half dozen of so cars and they were planning on crushing those as well. They seemed to be going towards carrying newer stuff and most of the older stuff they had left was Ford and Chevy.
Nash Auto PartsI had dealings with Nash Auto Parts in Jordan,NY several years ago but it wasn't rewarding! Ordered a rebuilt vacuum wiper motor, took weeks to get it and the the rebuilding consisted of new paint only!

DON'T BELIEVE THE YELLOW PAGES AD FOR THIS ONE!!!
Len's Auto WreckersListed as "AMC specialist"
San Jose, CA
(408) 289-9225
[Editor's note - 7/96] - I've been to this one, I believe. USED to be an AMC lot, under new management now. Not worth going to -- Len retired, very few (if any) AMCs left.
Ed Stack (aka Stacks)Not in business anymore. Various comments:
Brentwood, CA
he had to close for a while because of ca hazardous waste laws, and crush all his cars, but he pretty well stripped them first and he already had 3 or 5 warehouses full of used and nos parts. i bought nos HD 6 front springs for both my '65 american and '67 marlin from him, at very nice prices.
Ed Stack is no longer in business. It's as you said, he closed his yard, and was selling NOS and used stuff for TOP DOLLAR. He built me a custom T89 with overdrive out of new parts (custom 2nd gear) which I immediately sheared 1st gear teeth off of using my 63 wagon (232 ci) as the prybar (dont ask how I got the 232 in the 63).
I always wondered what happened to his nice pile of choice parts -- I hope they didnt get tossed.
He closed about two years ago, maybe more. I called his number sometime in 95, on a whim, and he said "not in that business anymore".
[Editor's note - 3/97] - He is trying to sell all his stock. He advertises in the "A" Cars For Sale section of Hemmings Motor News. The ad I saw was in the February or March 1997 issue. This would be a real find for another junkyard owner - it says in the ad he'd prefer just to sell all the stock in bulk.

Unconfirmed rumors -

Ace Auto SalvageThe owner is Mitch Urban. I was there in November and he was about to shut down for the winter. He was not sure weather he was going to be open again in 1997. The operation is For Sale. There is a 66 Marlin still there, in pretty good shape.

While you're in Washington state, maybe you can find out what happened to the inventory of the former E.A. Ramble & Co., which used to be at:
23205 Wdnvl-Snoh. HwyThey seem to have gone out of business but had a lot of cars, so if they didn't all go to the crusher, maybe someone snapped a bunch up and they're still available for parts.

If Wrecks Inc. is still in operation you should check with them, too. My memory is foggy, but I think they were south of Indy right along I-65. I used to buy stuff there back in the late '70s and early '80s, but haven't been there since. They were the first 'junkyard' that I knew of to have everything catalogued on computer, and they had good prices on stuff. I'm sure that they were listed in the Indy yellow pages back then, so it might be worth a look.
Response: Wrecks is just North of Indy on I-65.
There is a self-service junk yard here in Reno, Nevada called Pick-N-Pull (chain). I was out there yesterday in my usual quest for Jeep parts and I noticed that they had at least 15 AMC cars, mostly rust-free, no collision damage,in the yard. No AMXs or Javelins but, plenty of Pacers, Eagles, Hornets, etc.
North Jersey Auto WreckersNo self-serve/U-pull. Owner claims to have 4 or 5 Eagles and 1 Concord. Many Jeep vehicles. No details were given (He was pressed for time).
